"It" usually goes away without saying. We would like to be at the vanguard of changing this phrase for good. How about: It goes better with saying.
Here’s a list of things we’ve heard people say, “it goes without saying” about:
- I love you
- I want the best for you
- You matter to me
- I miss you
- We’re in this together
Why would we ever want these things to go without saying!? Our language and what we communicate reveals and causes our inner world. Your level of vulnerability, and therefore what you feel, is enhanced when you go from thinking something to saying something.
Our experience broadens and expands when we communicate it. Our definition of communication is action toward oneness. When we communicate, we have the opportunity to make our relationships more intimate, more precious, more connected. In effect, when we operate from, “it goes without saying” we are diminishing our experience of life. We diminish our relationships, our productivity, effectiveness, and our open mindedness.
If you are a frequent user of this phrase, pay attention to why you don’t want to say “it.”
To saying it!
